Clutch Components, Rebuilds & Machine Shop Services
Updated 8/8/06 (Click Refresh.) NOTE: Everything in this web site are still available. I only update when I make a change in a listing of a part. If a part is no longer available, I mention this instead. Prices are subject to change without notice. We're in the lawn mower/small repair business too, so we can get a lot of other parts that's not listed on my web sites. Just let me know what you need and we'll see if we can get it at a reasonable price. And the condition of these parts are brand new, first line product. No seconds or blems being pawned off on unsuspecting customers. To search for a word or phrase in this Web page, with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x, press CTRL+F to open the Find dialog box.
Clutch
Parts and Rebuilds. For pulling competition, heavy towing, garden
plowing, pushing snow, yard work or just lawn mowing. It's possibly the last
clutch your tractor will need! I also rebuild plain stock OEM Cub Cadet clutch
assemblies and the "Original" (belt drive) OH Cub Cadet clutch assemblies!
And I sell my clutch parts individually for the do-it-yourself rebuild. Also,
I don't sell complete clutch assemblies because I don't have enough parts
to put them together. But I can rebuild your clutch assembly, if you don't
mind sending it to me. I can rebuild your clutch assembly however you want.
Just tell me how you're going to use your tractor and I'll build your clutch
to suit your needs.
| Single Aluminum-Disc Clutch Setup for your narrow
or wide frame IH Cub Cadet. You send or bring me YOUR complete clutch assembly,
with everything on the driveshaft including the 3-pin drive plate, and I
will furnish and install the following parts listed below. (If all parts
are in fact needed.)
If you want me to rebuild your clutch assembly, I can reuse some of your parts if they are unworn and reusable, including the roll-pins, then the price will be lower. And if you want, you can save some money by supplying some of the parts that's mentioned above yourself. And please let me know whether or not if you need a pillow block bearing and brace for your particular application. NOTE: If an aluminum clutch disc is used in a high rpm tractor, I found they won't work as well because after a while the aluminum will get galled, and the clutch could become "grabby." The aluminum disc works better in a stock tractor with the engine running at a maximum of 4,000 rpms. Therefore, a double fiber clutch disc set up with a cultivator pressure spring may to be installed. |
Driveshafts - Each
driveshaft comes with 1/4" roll pin holes drilled and chamfered in the stock
locations with the exception of the 3rd hole which is optional for use with
a split locking collar. (3rd hole is optional for use with a split locking
collar). NOTE: These particular driveshafts are
made to order. When ordering, please specify the model of Cub Cadet you have
and possibly the exact length. I also make driveshafts for hydrostatic drive
Cub Cadets. By the way - these are not CNC machined.
I fabricate these manually on my milling machine.
Driveshafts for IH Hydrostatic Drive Cub Cadets -

New (6061 alloy; medium-grade
hardness) machined aluminum clutch disc kit with (3) 13/32" holes for the
3-pin drive plate. This is a direct replacement for Cub Cadet's OEM fiber
clutch disc. Comes with 6 holes and can be used with either a 3- or 6-pin
drive plate. Made of the highest quality aluminum available. The disc is
turned in my metal lathe and then the holes are precision-drilled in a super
spacer on my milling machine. Each aluminum clutch disc comes with a 5/8"
i.d. split lockwasher and a steel spacer to replace the cushion/teaser
spring. $35.00 each, plus shipping.
IMPORTANT - Both pressure plates MUST be resurfaced (machined flat in a metal lathe) before using the aluminum clutch disc, or severe slippage may result! And the lockwasher and steel spacer requires that a stiffer pressure spring, such as the cultivator spring kit, to be used so the lockwasher will collapse enough so the clutch will grip better. The lockwasher don't work well with Cub Cadet's OEM pressure spring.
6-1/2" diameter, 6-hole version of the above to replace the 4-puck metallic clutch disc (3/8" thickness) - $35.00 each, plus shipping. |
New OEM-material fiber Cub
Cadet clutch disc: $45.00 each, plus shipping. (Best to use this
type of clutch disc with an OEM cushion/teaser spring because the lockwasher
and steel spacer requires that a stiffer pressure spring, such as the cultivator
spring kit, to be used so the lockwasher will collapse enough so the clutch
will grip better. The lockwasher don't work well with Cub Cadet's OEM pressure
spring. No lockwasher and steel spacer is necessary.)
IMPORTANT - Both pressure plates MUST be resurfaced (machined flat) in a metal lathe before using the double disc clutch setup, or severe slippage may result! |
New clutch release bearing
(precision, high-speed sealed collar roller bearing) - $25.00 each,
plus shipping. NOTE: If your present throw-out bearing is reusable,
I will clean it and pack fresh grease into it. Or if you prefer to have a
new bearing, I will install a new one instead. Also, if your release lever
is worn because of a bad throw-out bearing, I can build up welding in the
worn area and grind it smooth for $5.00 extra. |
New cultivator spring kit.
7" long x 1-3/8" o.d. x 7/8" i.d. $25.00 each, plus shipping.
Used OEM Cub Cadet pressure springs. - $5.00 each. (Not recommended for pulling.) |
5/8" split lockwasher
and a steel spacer to replace the teasing spring. $4.00/set (plus
shipping). (Comes with the aluminum clutch disc kit.) |
If you want a two-piece steel
clamp-on 5/8" i.d. shaft split locking collar instead of the 3rd hole drilled
for a roll-pin, it'll be $3.00 extra. Each has two socket-head cap
screws that hold the clamp together and provide a tight uniform 360°
grip around the driveshaft. |
New high-quality pillow
block bearing w/cast iron housing (center support) - $15.00 each,
plus shipping. NOTE: Vibrations from the engine travels through the
driveshaft, causing it to "whip around" and possibly break at high rpms.
That's why a center support bearing and brace is needed on the driveshaft. |
Brace
to mount the pillow block bearing to. Made of minimum 1/8" thickness angled
steel. $10.00 each, plus shipping. Important! Before installing
this brace in the tractor's frame, first install the driveshaft with it connected
to the transaxle, and then bolt in the engine. This will guarantee that the
pillow block bearing is perfectly aligned (centered) with the driveshaft.
And then weld or securely fasten the brace to the frame. |
New OEM-quality bronze pilot
bushing - $2.00 each, plus shipping. |
| Labor for resurfacing and trueing up the pressure plates and reassembling entire clutch assembly is $30.00.* (Click here or scroll down for more information. Ê) |
| The total for the single aluminum clutch setup listed above plus my labor is approximately $239.00, plus shipping. This price includes reusing some of your clutch parts. If I supply all of the parts and labor, the price will be $324.00, plus shipping. |
Please contact me if you're interested in any of the above parts or service.
| Double-Disc (OEM Material) Clutch Setup for your
narrow or wide frame IH Cub Cadet. You send or bring me YOUR complete clutch

and I will furnish and install the following parts below. (If all parts are
needed.)
If you want me to rebuild your clutch assembly, I can reuse some of your parts if they are unworn and reusable, including the roll-pins, then the price will be lower. And if you want, you can save some money by supplying some of the parts that's mentioned above yourself. |

- Comes with holes drilled in the stock location (3rd hole is optional
for use with a split locking collar). NOTE: These
particular driveshafts are made to order. When ordering, please specify the

| Two new OEM-material fiber Cub Cadet clutch discs - $90.00 per two, plus shipping. (Because double clutches are intended only for competition pulling purposes, these come with two 5/8" i.d. split lock washers and a steel spacer to replace the cushion/teaser spring. A stiffer pressure spring must be used, too.) IMPORTANT - Both pressure plates must be machined flat (resurfaced) before using the double disc clutch setup, or severe slippage may result! |
|
4-1/2" - 4-5/8"
diameter x .133" thickness steel center drive plate - $20.00 each,
plus shipping. |
|
New clutch release
bearing (precision, high-speed sealed collar roller bearing) - $25.00
each, plus shipping. NOTE: If your present throw-out bearing is reusable,
I will clean it and pack fresh grease into it. Or if you prefer to have a
new bearing, I will install a new one instead. Also, if your release lever
is worn because of a bad throw-out bearing, I can build up welding in the
worn area and reground it for $5.00 extra. I also notch the release lever
for steering box clearance. |
|
New cultivator
spring kit - $25.00 each, plus shipping.
Used OEM Cub Cadet pressure springs. - $3.00 each. (Not recommended for pulling.) |
|
If you want a two-piece
clamp-on 5/8" i.d. shaft split locking collar instead of the 3rd hole drilled
for a roll-pin, it'll be $3.00 extra. Each has two socket-head cap
screws that hold the clamp together and provide a tight uniform 360°
grip around the driveshaft. |
|
New high-quality
pillow block bearing w/cast iron housing (center support) - $15.00 each,
plus shipping. NOTE: A pillow block bearing is definitely needed if your
engine is going to turn above 4,000 rpm! And it's recommended that if a pillow
block bearing is installed, then a split locking collar must also be used
in front of the pillow block bearing instead of a 3rd hole in the driveshaft
for the roll-pin to lessen the chance of driveshaft breakage. |
|
Brace
to mount the pillow block bearing to.
|
New OEM-quality
bronze pilot bushing; two 1/4" bolts/nuts, 6 bolts/nuts for installation
in the 3-pin drive plate - $2.00. |
|
| Labor for resurfacing and trueing up YOUR pressure plates and reassembling entire clutch assembly is $40.00.* (Click here or scroll down for more information. Ê) | |
| The total for the double clutch parts listed above plus my labor is approximately $300.00, plus shipping. This price includes reusing some of your clutch parts. If I supply all of the parts and labor, the price will be $385.00, plus shipping. | |
Please contact me if you're interested in any of the above parts or service.
* Labor for both clutch setups above includes disassemble, cleaning and inspection of the entire clutch assembly, trueing up the outer edge of your 3-pin drive plate and pressure plates and also resurface (machine flat) the pressure plates in my metal lathe and then reassemble of the entire unit. The reason I rework your parts is because I have no extra parts of my own to exchange. When I return the clutch assembly to you, it's fully assembled and ready to install in your tractor. Return È
Driveshaft-to-Input Shaft Couplers -
Your worn OEM Cub Cadet coupler
repaired for $15.00 each, plus shipping.
I bore it and then install a steel sleeve for a snug fit on the driveshaft and input shaft. By the way - these are not CNC machined. I fabricate these manually in my lathe and on my milling machine. |
Stock- and custom-length
couplers. Made of tough 3/16" wall 4140 chrome-moly steel. Any length up
to 6-1/2".
NOTE: Custom length couplers are made to order. When ordering a custom length coupler, please specify model of Cub Cadet, overall length and roll pin hole locations. By the way - these are not CNC machined. I fabricate these manually in my lathe and on my milling machine. |
3" aftermarket
coupler. This particular coupler is used in the model 582 and in pulling
competition to allow easier changing of the top pinion gear in the reduction
housing without removing the driveshaft. With roll-pin holes drilled.
Made of tough 3/16" wall 4140 chrome-moly steel. $20.00 each, plus
shipping.
By the way - these are not CNC machined. I fabricate these manually in my lathe and on my milling machine. |
|
If you need your pressure plates
professionally resurfaced and trued up, I can do them for $5.00 each
(plus return shipping).
I can also rebuild your heavily rusted or damaged pressure plates for
$20.00 each (plus shipping) by welding your center hub into a new
disc, then resurface and true them in my metal lathe. My rebuilt pressure
plates are guaranteed to be between 4-1/2" to 4-5/8" in diameter, too!
Please contact me if you're interested in any of the above parts or service.
Heavy Duty Spiral (or Coiled) Replacement Roll-Pins -
Used
Pedal Return Springs. Good condition. $3.00 each, plus shipping. (While
supplies last.)
Reconditioned
OEM 3-pin drive plates -These come with a new bronze pilot bushing and spiral roll-pins (if needed). The "Original" Cub Cadet Clutch Assembly -
Above 4,000 rpms, bronze bushings
will not last long under side-thrust. Therefore, it'll be a good idea to
have two sealed, high speed ball bearings installed in the clutch/pulley
disc assembly. See the picture below for a better understanding.
Two high-quality, high-speed sealed ball bearings installed in your "Original" Cub Cadet clutch disc/pulley assembly.
