Information about Brian Miller's One-of-a-Kind Motorized/Self-Propelled Garden Tractor Pulling Sled -

Dubbed by many garden tractor pullers as "the best garden tractor pulling sled in the nation" and "it's way ahead of its time," "Track Master" pulling sled has style, beauty and grace. It's easy to start, get speed and sure to stop. "Track Master" was designed and constructed solely by I, Brian Miller, in late 1992 and completed in 1995. It took me about 6 months to draw the plans on paper and 2 years (off and on) to build it. A stock 14hp Kohler engine, which sits next to the operator on the rear, propels it. A hydraulically controlled front axle with small steerable wheels lowers which raises the skid pan off the ground, making it easy to maneuver.

The total weight of the entire sled is about 6,000 lbs. The weight box weighs about 2,000 lbs. and has 8 control [distance] speeds. When the box is in the rest position at the rear, the front of the sled (skid pan) is very light, making the sled easy to start pulling. When the box is "topped out," about 5,400 lbs. or 90% of the total weight of the sled is transferred over the skid pan, stopping garden tractors efficiently. This sled can be used for all garden tractors, light- to heavy-weight ATVs and with added weight in the pan, it'll stop 1,500 lb. "small wheel" (26-12.00x12 tires) mini-rods!

"Track Master" is 17 feet long (without towbar) and very functional. It's used mainly in the central Missouri area. By the way - we asked around, but we couldn't get anyone to help sponsor or provide financial support to construct or help maintain our sled. So we paid for everything that went into it. We pay for the maintenance, too.

We (my dad, my brother, Brent and I) live in Columbia, Missouri. Although we lease our sled, weighing scales and measuring equipment every year to the Garden Tractor (and Mini Rod) Pullers of Mid-Missouri Association (GTPOMMA) that's based here in central Missouri for their pulling events. We also rent our sled to other events who may wish to use it for their pulling event. We use our sled on dirt (clay) tracks only.

Rather if it's a small community festival, county fair, state fair, special fund raising event or an NQS event, "Track Master" pulling sled will provide a quality show for all ages to participate in or come to watch. It's easy to start and sure to stop, even in short, indoor tracks. If you have an event and want a crowd drawing attraction, give us a call.

The price is $500.00 per event up to a radius of 150 miles from Columbia, Missouri, and then $1.00 per mile one way thereafter for extended travel expenses. If it's two or three day event at the same place, then the second and/or third day will be half price each. No refund(s) whatsoever if event(s) are rained out.

The rental price includes use of our sled, weighing scales (from Central City Scales [http://www.ccscales.com/html/portable.html]) having a portable 4' x 8' platform attached to a large easy-to-read electronic digital display. We also furnish a convenient and very accurate electronic distance measuring system (from Agri-Tronix Sled Monitor System [http://www.agri-tronix.com/html/sled_monitor1.html]) with an easy-to-read digital sled monitor and a remote display that's placed on a table at the announcer's/judge's stand. Our sled has two filled fire extinguishers with quick access, plus the ability to pull even the toughest killswitch!

Professionally-Built Garden Tractor, ATV, Motorcycle Engine-Powered Tractors and Possibly Small-Wheel Mini-Rod Pulling Sleds! We do not build sleds for bigger tractors (yet).

NOTE: As you probably already know, the price of new steel has gone up. So we had to raise our prices on our sleds. We have three versions of sleds. Below is a list of sleds we offer.

• The first version is a simple, "backyard" pull-back sled, just to test garden tractors or ATVs with.
• The second version is a professionally-designed pull-back sled, that's used at sanctioned pulling events.
• And the third version is a small, motorized (self-propelled) sled.
• Remember, only high-quality parts, including high quality steel, and professional engineering are used in all my sleds! Also, if you wish to do so, all of my sleds can be towed on the road without the use of a trailer. Measuring device is not included in prices.

• A 50% deposit is required on all sled purchases. All sleds come with a one year workmanship warranty.

Here's a list of what our sleds will have:

Version 1:

• Frame is 4' wide and approximately 14' long, 4" channel steel for main rails and reinforced 4" channel steel for ends.
• Skid pan: 4' x 6' non-swivel, two-post design, 1/4" thickness, reinforced.
• Single automotive differential drive axle (rear end) fastened to frame with leaf springs. Cleaned and new oil seals installed if needed.
• 6 ply tires. Spare tire and fenders included.
• Late model automotive drive train (to pull the weight box forward). Cleaned and new oil seals installed if needed.
• 3 weight box speeds, with use of a single, 3-speed automotive manual transmission.
• 40" pull chain, when measured from the front of skid pan to inside of hook.
• Painted your choice of color.
• Rear pull-back "V" shaped tow bar, and removable front tow bar, for towing on the highway.
• Non-rider, no operator-controlled brakes and no red and green lights.
• Sled will weigh approximately 3,500 lbs., including weights in weight box.
• Price: $6,000 each.

Version 2 will include all of the features above, plus...

• Length of sled is approximately 16 feet.
• Either 9, 12 or 16 weight box speeds, with use of two automotive manual transmissions. (Speeds of the weight box depends on availability of transmissions.)
• Sled operator will be positioned above weight box [at the rear of sled] so he/she can clearly see the operation of the pulling tractor.
• Rider operated hydraulic brakes, red and green lights and new automotive battery (for lights).
• Stop, turn and tail lights, 4-prong flat plug (to connect to towing vehicle) included, for towing on the highway.
• Sled will weigh approximately 3,500 lbs., including weights in weight box.
• Price: $7,500 each.

Version 3 will include all of the above, plus...

• Length of sled is approximately 17 feet.
• Two automotive rear ends (on the ground).
• Motorized (self-propelled) with use of an air-cooled, twin cylinder engine.
• Sled will weigh approximately 6,000 lbs., including weights in weight box.
• Will look, pull and operate similar to my personal sled, Track Master.
• Price: $15,000 each.
